What to expect at your initial consultation?
Please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before your initial consultation so you can be booked in and any outstanding paperwork can be completed.
You should allow up to 45 minutes for your consultation. A family member or friend is welcome to accompany you.
During the initial consultation, Dr Kennedy will review the information provided by your GP and any investigations you have already had.
In order to assess your condition or injury, Dr Kennedy places considerable importance on a detailed conversation with you to understand the history of the problem.
He will then conduct a thorough physical examination of the affected joint. Please wear suitable clothing to the consultation to allow easy access to the affected joint for examination.
He may be able to make a diagnosis at the initial consultation. However, further investigations and subsequent consultations may be required before the diagnosis can be confirmed.
Once a diagnosis is confirmed, Dr Kennedy will discuss the best course of action to manage your condition or injury.
This frequently involves conservative measures such as physiotherapy, medication or bracing.
If surgery is recommended, Dr Kennedy will discuss the risks and benefits of the surgery and will arrange a mutually suitable date to proceed.
